Sunday morning is the perfect time for Dads bulging in underwear.
I don’t have TV at home (not proper TV anyway – just Hulu/Netflix) so I rarely have a chance to see commercials, except when I’m traveling. As I’m sure you’re tired of hearing about now, I just got back from Chicago late last night (which was marvelous, thank you for asking!) where I managed to watch a shocking number of commercials in just a few short days.
But none of them stood out to me quite so much as this ad for Gildan underwear that encouraged you to avoid wearing your “dad’s underwear,” while featuring three prototype dads rocking their bulging white briefs and fit-but-grown dadbods. I’m certain that the message of this commercial was clear to lots of people but got sullied in my dirty mind at record speed. But you don’t have to take my word for it:

I get why young people wouldn’t want to wear what they perceived as their “father’s style” of underwear. But listen (and loyal readers will know where this is headed) – those grown up guys look confidant and fully formed in their tighty whiteys:
Meanwhile, the young guy they show wearing the Gildan underwear seems to have no actual genitals at all, and is instead smooth and rounded down there like a Ken doll:
I don’t totally know what that’s saying about the younger generations. But I know I don’t like it.
If you’re a dad, here’s my gift to you today: don’t let your role as father supersede your role as a sexually active and attractive man. I know too many guys who mistakenly think that having children is somehow the end of their sexual life, and it most definitely doesn’t have to be. Fatherhood doesn’t neuter you. You can be a dad and a virile, desirable, mature guy, just busting out of whatever underwear you wanna wear.
My personal favorite in this style of underwear is these Champion briefs. If you’ve got a dad-sized set of d&b, these will accommodate you nicely, without smashing you flat and round, like that young guy in the Gildan commercial. You can almost always find these on my wishlist.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. Your maturity is sexy af. Don’t believe me? Go look at some #DadsOnBoats.
