What is there to say.
I spent 22 years in Florida and much time in Orlando. I would offer my thoughts and prayers, but thoughts and prayers seem so small and selfish to those who have experienced real loss. So I’ll save them. I don’t have anything intelligent to add to the conversation, so my contribution will be to listen.
Occasionally there is comfort in the words of others, and I have found much comfort in the words of Marcel Proust over the years. This thought has stayed with me since I first read it, many years ago:
Happiness is beneficial for the body but it is grief that develops the powers of the mind.
– In Search of Lost Time, Vol. VII
There is nothing quantifiably good to come today. But perhaps eventually there will be.
